We've known the lovely Anna for a few years now. She's a hoot and produces the most beautiful magazine called Little Flea. We caught up with her a few weeks ago but here's a bit more about her and how she does it. Check out www.littleflea.co.uk for more.
Hello and welcome to The Parent Post.
1. Who are you and what do you do?
I'm Anna and I run Little Flea, a children's curated directory and magazine featuring the best kids and mama brands around! Little Flea is a one stop shop bringing you the most awesome things for the little people in your life. It was created out of a need for something more inspiring. The unique, the interesting, the style savvy - that's what was missing and that's why Little Flea was born. I have a background in Fashion Styling and having my own children inspired me to create a beautiful website full of beautiful things for kids.
2. Where do you live and how many children do you have?
I live in leafy Hertfordshire and have two daughters aged 12 and 10
3. Describe your Parenting style in three words.
Cool, calm and collected
…And now if we were to ask your kids to describe your Parenting style in three words what would they say?
Erratic, controlling and embarrassing 😂😂😂
4. What was the last picture you took on your phone?
A picture of a pumpkin and three mini squashes from Lidl!!!!
5. Describe a typical day.
My day starts with getting ready and walking my youngest child and the dog to school (the oldest gets herself up and out the door before I even emerge from my slumber!!!) I then get home, respond to emails and either work on the next issue of Little Flea magazine, write a blog or update the website with new brands/ giveaways etc. I try to get everything done within school hours, but sometimes this isn't possible - especially if i'm on a deadline. I feel incredibly fortunate that each day is different from the last. It gets lonely working from home sometimes, but I am always planning new things, having meetings or collaborating with new people. Each day usually brings another challenge or opportunity that makes running this business of mine so rewarding and exciting.
6. Are you there yet? And where is there?
I'm never there. I remember when I started Little Flea, I just wanted a few brands on the website to get up and running! Now over 100 brands later, I am looking at strategies to grow Little Fleas reach even further. I have lots of ideas in the pipeline and it's exciting to think about the future.
7. Funniest or most tragic Parenting moment to date?
Oh there are so many, but one that springs to mind is the tale of the mini escapee! There was a knock on the front door. I wasn't expecting anyone, so went to open it only to find my next door neighbour holding a 1 year old Pippa who he had found crawling up the road past his house... to this day, I still can't fathom how on earth she got out!!!
8. Let’s talk about sleep… how much do you get a night?
Ok, please don't hate me, but my kids are at an age where you tell them to go to bed and they do (between 8.30 and 9pm) and they sleep through until they get themselves up, make their own breakfast and get ready themselves. If it wasn't for my alarm I'd be late for everything!!!
9. How do you make sure it’s a Good Yawning?
I make sure the kids go to bed at a reasonable hour and ensure homework etc is up to date so we're not panicking in the morning! An essential for me though is a nice cup of builders brew tea! Oh and eggs, I have eggs every morning after the school run with a little bit of HP Sauce!
10. Let’s talk about GIN. Mother’s Ruin or Mother’s Saviour? How do you relax?
Ok, this is going to seem really odd, but I don't drink...at all! I never have! I'm a cheap date and always the taxi driver ferrying all the drunks home! I like to relax with my Pj's on and a cuppa tea with maybe a family sized bag of crisps! My idea of heaven!
When I do make it out of the house, I do like a bit of a boogie on the dancefloor!
