Hello and welcome to The Parent Post.
Tell us about Kensington Mums, how long have you been running and how would you describe yourselves?
Dina: I embarked on setting up Kensington Mums after the arrival of my second baby. I felt there was a need for a support network for Mums and for ways for Mums to meet like minded Mums. Kensington Mums just celebrated its 5 years and we couldn’t be happier. I would describe myself as a passionate people’s person, always wanting to be there to help.
What is your New Year resolution?
Dina: I never stick to my New Year resolution, but this year I want to be a bit more organized in my life, especially between work/kids/husband/friends etc…
Nathalie: Trying to find the right balance with work and being with my children. Unfortunately, it’s already NOT happening!
Describe your Parenting style in three words.
Dina: Emotional, Caring, and sometimes Loco.
Nathalie: Loving, fair & loud.
…And now if we were to ask your kids to describe your Parenting style in three words what would they say?
Dina: Mumzilla, that’s what my kiddos best describe me when I come home.
Nathalie: Caring, Fun and definitely LOUD!
What is always inside your handbag?
Dina: My diary, lip balm and my phone.
Nathalie: Let me check ;) pencil case, lip balm & a dummy for my baby girl.
Describe a typical day in the Kensington Mum world.
Dina: Once kids are dropped off to school, its back to my home office where I answer email, edit article for publishing and do my meetings.
Nathalie: My days always start with coffee; the rest of the day is a juggle between replying to emails on my phone and trying my best to keep my little ones busy. We go to the park daily and love to get creative with play doh when we are home!
Are you there yet? And where is there?
Dina: Motherhood is a journey…not sure I will ever be there…but taking every day as it comes with an open mind and big heart.
Nathalie: Definitely not ‘there’ yet. ‘There’ is finally finding right work/ time with kids balance, managing to make time for myself on a daily basis and still be smiling by the evening.
Funniest or most tragic Parenting moment to date?
Dina: The funniest is when mini me imitating me speaking on the phone and opening my laptop and telling me, “ I am working now”.
Most tragic, losing my son when we was just a toddler for 1 min in Heathrow Airport as I put him down next to be to pay, he ran to get the trolley so he can “play” with it. Another tragic is him accidently falling off a bench in a shopping mall and me going insanely crazy on how I did that!
Nathalie: Tragic, similar to Dina’s story…my husband and I thought my son had gone missing at the airport as we were coming back from our Summer holidays in Sweden. We ‘lost’ him for less than 2 minutes, which felt like a lifetime to me. He had no idea what had happened when we found him and I cried non-stop for a very long time!
Let’s talk about sleep… how much do you get a night?
Dina: It used to be non existent with breastfeeding and all, now that my kids are a bit older, we still get to wake up early even on weekends. Lie-ins what’s that?
Nathalie: SLEEP!? I don’t remember last time I had a full night sleep or woke up after 6:30am, can we talk about something else please?!
Let’s talk about GIN. Mother’s Ruin or Mother’s Saviour? How do you relax?
Dina: I love to have a massage that is definitely my favourite way to relax. The other is to do a home spa, light up candles and read my book in bed.
Nathalie: What I love the most is to just sit back on the sofa with my husband catching up on each other’s life – possibly while sipping good wine and on a Friday night ;) If my husband isn’t around, a facial will do it!!!
